Some browsers, such as Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, allow you to set the browser’s default downloads folder by changing the settings. But, Microsoft Edge does not play this way. As with other browsers, by default, it stores downloaded files to your Downloads folder. But to modify the default, for a quick edit, you have to dive into the Registry. Click the Search button. Type Run in the search bar and choose the Run option as the following image is showing.
As soon as you choose the Run option, the following dialogue box will appear.
Type Regedit in the Open textbox and then click the OK button as highlighted in the above image. As you will click the OK button, the Registry Editor screen will open like this.
Navigate through the following path.
Now right click on the Main option and choose New -> String Value as the following image is showing.
Now rename the newly created String Value as Default Download Directory as the following image is showing.
Now double click on this newly created String Value and the following dialogue box will appear.
Now put the path of your choice in the Value data textbox and then click the OK button as highlighted in the above image. After this you don’t need to restart the computer, it will work immediately.
