In the past computer monitors had the problem of image burning due to the long period of time showing the same screen and image when the computer was not used. People used to install the screen saver to avoid this problem. When the computer was idle for a specific time period that screen saver runs on the screen. Nowadays there is no problem with image burning on computer monitors or screens, but people still use the screen savers only for fun. There are some predefined screen savers in Windows 10. In this article, we will guide you with the whole procedure to change the screen saver in Windows 10.
Change screen saver in Windows 10
To change the screen saver in Windows 10, follow this procedure step by step:
Click the Search button. Type Settings in the search bar and select the Settings option as below image is showing:
As you will select the Settings option, Windows Settings screen will appear like this:
Once you are on the Windows Settings screen, select the Personalization option as highlighted in the above image.
By clicking on Personalization option all the related settings will appear on Personalization screen like this:
Select the Lock screen option from the left side of the screen as highlighted in the above image. As soon as you will select the Lock screen option the following screen will appear:
Scroll down the screen and select Screen save settings option at the end of the screen. The Screen save settings option will look like this:
After selecting Screen saver settings, Screen Save Settings dialogue box will appear. This dialogue box will be having all settings of screen savers. The dialogue box will look like this:
As the above image is showing that there is no screen saver selected right now. Click on the drop-down menu of Screen saver and select any one screen saver of your choice.
The screen saver which is selected by you will appear on the screen as per its settings.
Settings of the Screen Saver
As you will select one screen saver from the drop-down, both buttons of Settings and Preview will enable like this:
Now click on the Settings button to make further settings of the selected screen saver. For example, in this case, 3D Text Settings dialogue box will open like this:
The following settings you can set for this specific and other screen savers as well:
- Text: Firstly, you can select if you want Time to appear on your screen or a Custom Text as a screen saver. Whatever radio button you will select that will appear on your screen as a screen saver.
- Choose Font: You can choose Font and Font Style of the text you want to appear as a screen saver.
- Motion: Rotation type of the screen saver can be selected by this option.
- Surface Style: Surface-style of the screen saver can be selected e.g. Solid Color, Texture or Reflection.
- Resolution: You can set the resolution of the screen saver as high or low.
- Size: Size of the screen saver can be selected as small or large.
- Rotation Speed: Rotation speed of the screen can be selected as slow or fast.
After doing all these settings, click the OK button and all selected settings will apply on the selected screen saver and you will get back to the Screen Saver Settings dialogue box as follows:
You can view the screen saver by clicking the Preview button. Preview will show the screen as it is as it will appear at the time of screen saver. Select the minutes for Wait spin box (It’s the time for which computer will idle and activate the screen saver). By checking the checkbox named On resume, display logon screen every time the computer will resume after screen saver, there will be logon screen. If you don’t want to display logon screen after resume does not check this check box. Click Apply and OK button. This will apply all the selected settings on the screen saver.
By following this whole procedure you will be able to set and change the screen saver in Windows 10. In the past, it was a need to avoid the problems and issues of monitors but now screen saver is used for the sake of fun.
