The manufacturer information for your PC tells the essential details about certain components of your computer system. These details include the edition of the operating system, version of the processor, installed RAM, computer system name etc. All these fields are set by default at the time when you buy your computer system. However, you can customize this information according to your choice and choose what you want to be displayed in your manufacturer information. In this article, we will explain to you the method through which you can customize the manufacturer information for your Windows 10 PC.
Customizing the Manufacturer Information for Your Windows 10 PC
In order to customize the manufacturer information for your Windows 10 PC, you will need to proceed as follows:
Type regedit in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch a new registry editor window. The newly opened Registry Editor window is shown in the following image:
Click on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder as highlighted in the image shown above.
As soon as you will click on it, some sub-folders will appear. Just click on the Software folder as shown in the image below:
Now click on the Microsoft folder under the Software folder as highlighted in the following image:
Click on the Windows folder as shown in the image below:
Under the Windows folder, click on the Current Version folder in order to expand it further.
Finally, click on the OEMInformation folder as highlighted in the following image:
So, the complete path is as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ OEMInformation
It is also highlighted in the image shown below:
As soon as you will click on the OEMInformation folder, the right pane of the window will display the default manufacturer information fields. Here you can add new fields of your choice such as Manufacturer, Model, SupportHours, SupportPhone, SupportURL, and Logo.
In order to add any of the values listed above, right-click anywhere in the OEMInformation pane and then select new as shown in the following image:
Now select String Value from the sub-cascading menu as highlighted in the image shown above.
As soon as you will click on it, a new string value will appear in the OEMInformation pane as shown in the image below:
Rename this value with any of the fields shown in the list above. You can do this by right clicking on this value and then selecting the rename option from the menu as shown in the following image:
I have renamed this field as Manufacturer as highlighted in the image shown below:
In order to set the desired value for this field, double-click on the Manufacturer field. Clicking on it will launch the Edit String dialogue box as shown in the following image:
You can give any value of your choice in the text box corresponding to the field of Value Data as shown in the image below:
Once you have set your desired value, just click on the OK button in order to save your settings.
Now you can see your newly set value under the Data column in the OEMInformation pane as highlighted in the following image:
You can also verify the new changes in your Manufacturer Information in the Control Panel as shown in the image below:
In this way, you can customize the manufacturer information for your Windows 10 PC by adding some fields of your choice. You can do this by following some very simple steps as shown in the article above. These new fields will appear in your Manufacturer Information in Control Panel just like the other default fields.
