Windows 10 comes with Cortana loaded which most people don’t like. If you are one of those who don’t like Cortana, you have the option to disable it. In this article, we will guide you through the whole procedure to entirely disable Cortana on Windows 10.
Disable Cortana in Windows 10
To disable Cortana on Windows 10, follow this procedure step by step.
Click the Search button on the taskbar. Type Run in the search box and then click the Run option as the following image is showing.
As you click the Run option, the following dialogue box will appear.
Type taskmgr in the Open textbox and then click the OK button as highlighted in the above image. As you click the OK button, the Task Manager will open as the following image is showing.
Locate the Cortana under the Processes tab. Then expand it and right click on it. A menu will open, click the Open file location option as highlighted in the above image. As you click the Open file location option, it will take you to the following path as the following image is showing.
This PC\Local Disk (C :)\Windows\SystemApps
Right click on the Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy option and the following menu will appear.
Click the Rename option from the appeared menu. The name of the file will be in edit mode as the following image is showing.
Now add the .bak at the end of the file name as highlighted in the above image. It will show the following alert.
Go back to the Task Manager screen and right click on the Cortana process. Then click the End task option as the following image is showing.
Now again rename the file as mentioned above by adding .bak at the end of the file. The Cortana will be disabled from the Windows 10.
By following this procedure, you will be able to entirely disable Cortana on Windows 10.
