Mapping a Network Drive in Windows 10
In order to map a network drive in Windows 10, you can make use of any of the two methods listed below:
Method # 1: Using File Explorer
In this method, we will tell you how you can map a network drive using the File Explorer in Windows 10. For doing this, you will need to perform the following steps:
Type file explorer in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result in order to launch the file explorer window. The newly opened File Explorer window is shown in the following image:
Click on This PC as highlighted in the image shown above.
Now click on the Computer tab.
On the Computer ribbon, click on the Map network drive icon as highlighted in the image shown below:
Now click on Map network drive option from the dropdown list as shown in the following image:
As soon as you will click on it, the Map Network Drive window will appear on the screen as shown in the image below:
Select the Network Drive from the Drive dropdown list and then browse through your computer system in order to search for the folder that you want to map. After selecting the desired folder, click on the OK button.
Finally, click on the Finish button.
Method # 2: Map Network Drive via Command Line
In this method, we will tell you how you can map a network drive using the Command Prompt in Windows 10. For doing this, you will need to perform the following steps:
Type cmd in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch the Command Prompt. The newly opened Command Prompt window is shown in the following image:
Now type the command
net use Drive \\Folder\File
on your Command Prompt and then press enter in order to map a network drive through Command Prompt in Windows 10. Replace Drive, Folder and File in this command with the Filename, Folder name, and the Drive letter that you want to map. This command is highlighted in the image shown below:
