Sometimes while working in Windows 10, you accidentally delete a file and later on, you realize that the file, which you have deleted, contained something important for you. In such a situation, you end up getting badly frustrated and start looking for the ways to recover your deleted file. In this article, we will explain to you two ways through which you can recover deleted files in Windows 10.
Recovering Deleted Files in Windows 10
Before discussing the methods of recovering a deleted file in Windows 10, let us state the two possibilities that might arise once you have deleted a file.
- Earlier, you have created a backup of the file you have deleted on your computer system.
- You do not have any backup of the deleted file.
Now let us proceed towards our methods.
Method # 1: Recover deleted file from Windows Backup
In this method, we will tell you how you can recover a deleted file, which has a backup on your computer system. In order to do this, you need to perform the following steps:
All you need to do is to locate the backup of your file. Type file explorer in the search section of your taskbar and click on the search result to launch a new file explorer window. The newly opened File Explorer window is shown in the following image:
Type the name of the file that you have deleted in the search box corresponding to the field of “Search Quick Access” as highlighted in the image shown above and then press enter.
In this example, I am searching for the backup of the file named Test. It is shown in the image below:
As soon as you will hit enter, the backup of your desired file will appear in the search result and you can easily use this file.
Method # 2: Restore Deleted file by using the Recycle Bin
In this method, we will tell you how you can recover a deleted file, which has no backup on your computer system. In order to do this, you need to perform the following steps:
Double click on the Recycle Bin icon located at your desktop to launch the recycle bin as shown in the image below:
As soon as you locate your desired file in the Recycle Bin, right click on it to launch a menu as shown in the following image:
Click on the Restore option from this menu in order to recover your deleted file as highlighted in the image shown above.

In this way, you can recover your deleted files in Windows 10 irrespective of whether you have created the backup of your files or not. However, it is highly recommended that you always create a backup of your important files.
